Utah will surprise you. 😄🍷

Tell you a secret — but the secret is out.

Utah is extraordinary. Genuinely, surprisingly, repeatedly extraordinary. And the Californians relocating here by the thousands have figured that out - which means the rest of the country is catching up fast.

I am not an outside observer making this claim. I am a University of Utah alumna who lived on campus, spent two years in a sorority house and attended on a full ride academic scholarship. I lived in Park City during the 2002 Winter Olympics. I have hiked, skied, boated, rafted, tubed, houseboated and hula hooped my way across the Beehive State.

I am, without false modesty, the ultimate Utah tour guide. And I am delighted to share what I know — and give you a tour in person. 😊

Let's Address the Elephant in the Room. 🐘

Utah has a reputation. Conservative. Religious. Dry. The kind of place where the fun went to retire.

Allow me to correct this entirely.

Salt Lake City is genuinely liberal - full of non-Mormons, Jack-Mormons and out-of-staters who arrived for the mountains and stayed for the culture. You can absolutely get an alcoholic drink. Medicinal marijuana is available. The arts scene is world class - opera, symphony and theatre that would hold its own in any major American city.

Park City is an entirely different world - a cosmopolitan mountain town full of second home owners, tech entrepreneurs, film festival regulars and people who chose sophistication with altitude.

Provo? Yes, Provo is very LDS. Every state has its Provo. We don't talk about Provo. 😉

And polygamy? That exists only in small, hidden towns in southern Utah - full of drama, complications and expenses that make the whole arrangement sound exhausting. Unlike the Hottie Harem experience, which is considerably more streamlined and infinitely more enjoyable. 😂

The Skiing. ⛷️

Utah has the Greatest Snow on Earth. That is not marketing copy - it is a meteorological fact printed on our license plates and backed up by anyone who has skied our champagne powder.

Park City Mountain, Deer Valley, Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton - world class resorts within forty minutes of Salt Lake City airport. We hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and we are hosting them again in 2034. The infrastructure, the runs and the snow quality speak for themselves.

I was here for 2002. The energy of an Olympic winter in Utah is something I will never forget. 2034 is going to be spectacular - and the savvy traveler is already planning. 🎯

The Red Rocks. 🏜️

Drive four hours south and the landscape transforms completely.

Moab. Arches National Park. Canyonlands. Zion National Park. The Colorado River cutting through red rock formations that look like they belong on another planet entirely.

I have rafted down the Colorado River in Moab - one of the most thrilling and visually extraordinary experiences of my life. I have also gone 4-wheeling and mountain biking through Slick Rock - a landscape so otherworldly it genuinely stops you mid-pedal to question whether you are still on Earth. 🚵‍♀️

Utah contains multitudes. Snow-capped mountains in the north, Mars-like red desert in the south. There is genuinely nowhere else quite like it. 🌅

Lake Powell. 🚤

House boating at Lake Powell is one of Utah's greatest pleasures and one of my personal favorites.

I have done it multiple times. Anchoring in a cove, barbecuing a delicious meal on the deck, lounging in the sun and cooling off in that extraordinary blue green water. The silence of a canyon cove at sunset is something that needs to be experienced rather than described.

I brought my hula hoop on my last trip. I used to teach hula hooping - yes, really 😄 - and hula hooping is a genuinely excellent core workout. It creates an energetic vortex around you, especially when I hoop with my LED lighted hoop at night. I can do tricks.

Perhaps one day I will show you. 😉

Naked hooping, anyone? 😄🔥

The Rivers. 🌊

Rafting and tubing down Utah's rivers is pure summer joy. The Provo River, the Weber River, the Colorado - whether you want white water adventure or a lazy float with a cold drink in hand, Utah's rivers deliver.

There is nothing quite like drifting downstream in warm sunshine with good company and absolutely nowhere to be.

Salt Lake City. 🏙️

The city that surprises everyone who expected something smaller and more conservative.

World class Utah Jazz basketball. The Utah Mammoths hockey team - and I love a hockey game, the energy in that arena is extraordinary. 🏒 The Utah Symphony. Pioneer Theatre. The kind of cultural calendar that a city twice its size would be proud of.

And the food scene has arrived. Properly, finally, deliciously arrived. ✓

The Outdoors. Everything Else. 🏔️

Hiking trails that range from leisurely to genuinely humbling. Golf courses with mountain backdrops that make concentration nearly impossible. Cycling routes through scenery that belongs on a postcard. A state that takes its outdoor lifestyle seriously and has the infrastructure to back it up.

I have done most of it. I am happy to do more of it with excellent company. 😊

Utah in My Bones. 🍷

I have flipped houses in Utah for decades alongside my interior design career. I have watched this state grow and transform from the inside - the Olympics, the tech boom, the arrival of the Californians, the emergence of a genuine food and culture scene that nobody outside Utah quite expected.

I know every corner of this state worth knowing. The best hikes nobody has heard of. The restaurants worth the drive. The hidden coves at Lake Powell. The runs at every resort. The red rock trails that will change the way you see landscape forever.

Let me be your Utah tour guide!! 😉

Who Comes Here. 🍷

Utah attracts a specific kind of person now - one who discovered that you can have world class skiing, extraordinary nature, a sophisticated city and four hour drives to red rock desert all within the same state.

The Californians figured it out first. The rest of the country is following.

Come see what they came for. 😊
