Hilton Head & Charleston Escort — Where the Low Country Does Luxury Right ☀️

South Carolina has been on my list longer than I care to admit.
I have visited most of the continental United States. I lived in Manhattan. I have been to 49 countries. And somehow the Low Country - that extraordinary stretch of South Carolina coast with its moss draped oaks, its antebellum architecture and its particular brand of unhurried Southern luxury - has remained stubbornly on my bucket list rather than in my memory bank.
This is about to change. I am manifesting this trip with considerable determination. And I already know exactly how it unfolds. 😊
Charleston First. 🏛️
Every great South Carolina trip begins in Charleston. There is simply no argument.
I am an interior designer. Architecture is not just something I notice - it is something I feel in my bones. And Charleston's architecture is extraordinary in a way that genuinely stops people mid-stride.
Rainbow Row - those famous connected Georgian houses painted in soft pastels along East Bay Street - is one of the most photographed streetscapes in America for very good reason. As someone who has spent a career thinking about color, proportion and the relationship between a building and its setting, I cannot wait to stand in front of them properly. Not in a photograph. In person.
The antebellum mansions along The Battery. The famous piazzas - those wide side porches unique to Charleston architecture, designed to catch the ocean breeze before air conditioning existed and still the most civilized architectural feature I have ever encountered. The cobblestone streets of the French Quarter. The steeples rising above the roofline that gave Charleston its nickname - the Holy City.
I would spend an entire day simply walking and looking. That alone would justify the trip. ✓
The Food. 🦐
Charleston has quietly become one of the great food cities in America - and I say that as someone who has eaten in extraordinary places on multiple continents.
Shrimp and grits. She-crab soup. Lowcountry boil. Food that is rooted in this specific landscape and could not exist anywhere else. The kind of meal that tastes like it belongs exactly where it is being served.
Husk. FIG. The Ordinary. Charleston's restaurant scene is genuinely world class and completely unpretentious about it - which is the best possible combination. 😊
Then Hilton Head. ⛳
A 90 minute drive south from Charleston and the landscape shifts - from historic city streets to barrier island luxury.
Hilton Head Island is one of those places that gets everything right quietly. No buildings taller than the trees - that is an actual rule and it produces an actual result. The island feels like a natural landscape that happens to contain world class golf, extraordinary beaches and some of the most beautiful resort properties on the East Coast.
I have heard such wonderful things about Hilton Head summers - the energy, the beaches, the water, the way the whole island seems to exist at a frequency slightly below the rest of the world. I cannot wait to experience it firsthand.
The Golf. ⛳
Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort is one of the most beautiful and most storied golf courses in America.
The lighthouse. The Calibogue Sound stretching beyond the 18th hole. The live oaks draped in Spanish moss lining the fairways. This is a golf course that has hosted PGA Tour events for decades and looks exactly like somewhere that should.
I play golf. Enthusiastically if not always accurately - pink balls, nine holes, genuine joy in the process. 🏌️♀️ A golf date at Harbour Town would be genuinely extraordinary and I mean that completely. ⛳
The Water. 🛥️
Hilton Head is surrounded by water - the Atlantic on one side, Calibogue Sound and Port Royal Sound on the others. Beautiful beaches that stretch for miles. Sailing and boating through the inland waterways. And dolphins - the Low Country is famous for its bottlenose dolphins and I am someone who has swum with wild dusky dolphins in New Zealand. The idea of watching them in these warm Southern waters is genuinely thrilling. 🐬
I love anything on, in or near the water. Hilton Head delivers all of it. 😊
Who Comes Here. ☀️
Charleston and Hilton Head attract a very specific kind of person - one who values genuine beauty, genuine history and genuine luxury without performance.
Old money Southern families. Golf enthusiasts who understand that Harbour Town is a pilgrimage worth making. People who choose a barrier island over a city beach because they understand the difference.
I understand that clientele completely. And the Low Country - with its architecture, its golf, its water and its extraordinary food - is a landscape I am very much looking forward to discovering properly.
Come discover it with me.
